A rare visit to the cane collection of the Musee des Arts Decoratifs
Peter Robinson shown here with Curator Motsch was able to view the over 40 spectacular canes kept in storage in this Paris museum. Below is a Louis XV mother of pearl & gold example with the elaborate gold decorated eyelet surround seen in 1750’s pieces. Access was granted as part of a research project on French pique. Fine examples of delicate French gold pique on tortoise were discovered in the collection.
